What about giving gifts at the baby shower?

Let's not beat around the bush - the whole point of a baby shower is to be 'showered with gifts' in preparation for the baby's arrival. In the States, the expectant parents usually have a gift registry at a baby store, (just like we do with weddings).
A baby gift registry can be very sensible in that it eliminates the possibility for duplicate (or unwanted) gifts, but at the same time, we Brits often feel a little uncomfortable with this whole concept. We suggest that the host might like to put a note on the baby shower invitations along the lines of 'Please call me if you would like ideas on what gift to buy John & Tina'.

Some guests will simply like to be creative and buy something really unusual or sentimental for the baby. We say this is good too, and have a range of gifts in our shop - perfect for those more creative baby shower guests.

3. Around the Clock

Choose gifts specific to certain times of baby's day. Nap time, Bath time, Nappy changing time, Feeding time etc. Gifts may include nappies, bath products, bibs, bath toys & thermometer, towels, comfort blanket, weaning set, nappy stacker and so on. Guests could also offer a tip along with their gift.

4. Baby's Nursery

Mum may have chosen a range of decorations & bedding for the Nursery. You could take gifts such as pictures, cot mobile, lampshade and other room accessories in the chosen theme.

5. Baby's First Library

Each guest can take a book as a gift. Mum may be collecting a particular range of baby books. All babies love to look at books and listen to stories. Nursery rhyme books are always a favourite.

6. A - Z

Each guest is assigned a letter when invited to the baby shower. The idea is to take a gift that begins with their given letter.

7. Noah's Ark
