BABY SHOWER GAMES

Games can be a terrific way to involve all of your guests, especially if they may not know each other that well. The types of games and number of games will be somewhat dependent on your guest list. Plan on 2 - 4 games depending on the size of your group. If you are having a couples shower you may want to eliminate the games altogether and focus more on the menu and guest interactions and of course involve both the mother and the father in the opening of the gifts. Fastest Baby Bottle Drinker!
Have a few baby bottles filled with juice ready to drink. Start a timer and the first person to finish drinking is the winner. It is more difficult to drink out of a baby bottle than you would think! This is a great game to involve daddy.

Baby Shower Pass The Parcel
You know how we all loved to play 'Pass the Parcel' as a child and I bet you would still love it as much today now that you are all grown up!  The only difference is that instead of putting a sweetie or piece of candy between each layer, you instead put one of our our Task/Promise cards.  The guests who open a layer with a card are then to perform their given task for Mum once baby is born.  A great way to help Mum out plus a real fun activity for your baby shower party.  To buy a pack of laminated Task/Promise cards Click Here.

Baby Talk (Chinese Whispers)
Preparation:
Choose one of the following phrases or make up your own along these lines:
 
"Little Lilly Long-stocking’s itty bitty bonnet fell from the pretty pink pram into a puddle, and nanny knitting booties never noticed."
 
" Bonnie Bobby loved to wear his booties in his brilliant blue bouncer while playing peek-a-boo with big sister Sarah who was really just as ickle as a pickle!”
 
Playing the game:

• Divide the players into two teams, each team sitting in a circle.
• Whisper the baby phrase to one person on each team.
• That person then whispers it to the next and so on.
• The last player on each team announces the phrase out loud for everyone to hear.
• The host then tells all the players what the original message was. The team whose phrase is closest to the original is the winner.

Baby Animals Quiz
Preparation:
Print out 2 copies of the Baby Animals Quiz - Blank Quiz printout and 1 copy of the Baby Animals Quiz - Quizmaster printout.2 pens are needed – one for each team.

Playing the game:
Split the guests into 2 teams. The host and the mum-to-be can take it in turns to read out the questions from the Baby Animals Quiz printout. Once all the questions have been asked, ask the teams to swap answer-sheets before the host reads out the answers. The team who got the most correct answers is obviously the winner!

Baby Grown Up
Preparation:
Write the following categories onto six paper bags:
1.    Gender
2.    Physical
3.    Hobbies
4.    Talents
5.    Occupation
6.    General

• Cut out all of the options for each category, fold up each bit of paper and put it into the relevant bag.
• (Feel free to make up and add your own options for each category.)

 
Playing the game:

• The idea of the game is to predict what the baby will be like when they are grown up.
• All the guests should split up into teams of 2.
• Each team must take out one bit of paper from each bag (if the gender of the baby is already known, simply leave out the gender section of the game).
• When all of the teams have all of their slips, each team describes their grown up baby. One such description might be: “A man with straight brown hair and a perfect nose, who plays poker, is a truly wonderful cook, and is a novelist living in an eco-friendly house.”
• The mum-to-be then chooses which description she would most like her baby to grow up be. That team is then the winner and gets a small prize.

Mystery Baby Food
Preparation:
Buy 10 tins or jars of baby food in a variety of flavours both savory and sweet.
Cover each jar in white paper and as you do so write a number onto that jar, and on a corresponding bit of card, write in big letters what jar No. 1 contains. Carry on until all 10 jars are numbered, and you have cards numbered 1 – 10 with the correct food written on them. You will also need a plastic baby spoon (or a teaspoon will do), a blindfold and a bib.
 
Playing the game:
This is a game for the mum-to-be, but if she feels really uncomfortable playing this she can nominate someone else! The idea of the game is simply for mum-to-be to guess what each of the foods are. (Don’t forget to consider any allergies or dietary requirements of the mum-to-be when preparing for this game!)
Place the bib, then the blindfold on the mum-to-be, then give her the baby spoon. First of all hold up the first card so that all the guests can see what the mum-to-be is about to be given. This usually gets a fun response from everyone! Then take 1⁄2 a spoonful from the first jar and feed it to the mum-to-be. She must then guess what the jar contains. This game is only a bit of fun, but a nice idea is to award the mum-to-be with a pack of nappies for each one she gets correct.

Nursery Rhyme Riddles Quiz
Preparation:

Playing the game:

Pins and Rice
Hide some crystal effect mini nappy pins in a bowl of rice. Without looking, have the guests try to pull out as many nappy pins out of the rice as possible in a given time. The one to pull out the maximum pins is the winner. This is really fun game to play and you will be surprised just how hard it is to do.

Pass The Dummy
Give each guest a pencil/pen. Instruct guests to put the pencils in their mouths and keep their hands behind their backs. Place a dummy on one players pencil and have the players pass the dummy from one person to another, around the room without using their hands. If a player drops the dummy they are out of the game. Balloon Pop/Action
Write different actions on several small pieces of paper (such as eat a jar of baby food, or drink fizzy pop from a baby bottle). Insert the papers inside a balloon and then inflate the balloon and tie. Have guests pop the balloons by sitting on them then complete the challenges inside. Don't Drop Baby (Water Balloon Toss)
Definitely best as an outdoor game. Fill up water balloons (serveral for each guest) and have each guest pick a partner. Partners take turns throwing the water balloons back and forth trying not to drop them. Prize awarded to the couple who goes the longest without dropping their balloons.

Bottle Bowling
Set up 10 baby bottles in a triangle shape starting with 1 in the front. Give guests a tennis ball or other small ball and have them try to knock down all 10 "pins". The person with the best score wins. Click here for our fabulous range of personalised prizes.

Belly Bulge
To make the mum-to-be feel at home, ask the guests to attend pregnant, wearing maternity smocks stuffed with pillows! Then at game time have the guests replace the pillows with their gifts. Mum-to-be must feel each belly and guess the gift underneath.

A Shower T-Shirt Designers Game
This game will bring out the t-shirt designer in your baby shower party guests. The baby shower hostess will need to provide t-shirts in different sizes so the baby can grow into each one in time, some pieces of cardboard to slip inside the shirt and fabric paints. There needs to be plenty of materials to work with as well as space to clean up and an area for the shirts to dry. Guests are invited to make a design of their choice on the t-shirt. The completed t-shirts are then given to the mum-to-be as a gift for the baby. The guests will love seeing the child wear the gifts they have made later on as he/she grows.

Baby Bag Mystery Game
The Baby Bag Mystery game is a guessing game. For this game you will need about 5 paper bags or why not buy our Giant Mummy Chic Gift Sacks. You will also need an assortment of baby care items, pencil, paper and a stapler. Assign a number to each bag and place one baby item (or one type of item, such as a hand full of nappy pins) in a bag and staple it shut. The reason for the paper is so no one can see the shape of the item. Pass the bags around to the guests and have them shake and rattle the bags to determine its contents. The guests will then write their answers down on their piece of paper. After each guest has written their answers down, open the bags to reaveal their contents. The guest with the most correct answers wins!

Prizes
If you decide to play games at your shower, make sure to have prizes on hand for the winners. These can be as simple as chocolates and other simple food treats or simple little toy prizes that may reinforce the shower theme. Our favours and personalised chocolate bars also make great game prizes.
